HAMBURG, N.Y. --- Good Boy continues to be nothing but 'great' as he collected his fourth straight victory by wiring the field in Buffalo Raceway's $17,500 Open Trot on Saturday night (March 4). He held off Captain Krupnik by a head while Malibu Kid took third in the featured event that went in 2:01.3 over the good track.

Good Boy is 'great' in Open Trot on Saturday.
With five victories in eight starts this season to go along with three runner up finishes, Good Boy still was overlooked by the betting public as he returned $16,00 to his faithful followers.

Good Boy (Ray Fisher Jr.) reached the top with ease and registered fractions of :30.4, 1:01.2 and 1:31.3. Turning for home, Captain Krupnik (Keith Kash Jr.) attacked Good Boy from the outside while Malibu Kid (Larry Stalbaum) made a charge in the passing lane but their bids came up short.

Owned by Mary Warriner and trained by Ryan Swift, the 4-year-old gelded Good Boy (Lou's Legacy-Gia's Speedster) has now put $36,000 in the bank in 2023.

The sub-featured $15,100 Open II Pace saw Pet Sur-Roc (Kyle Cummings) use a perfect pocket trip then pounced on the front stepping Brave World (Kevin Cummings) to secure a 1-1/2-length victory in 1:58.0.

Pet Sur-Roc takes Open II pace on Saturday.
It was a tussle to the opening quarter as Brave World won the scrum in :28.4 as Pet Sur-Roc retreated back to the pocket. With splits of :58.3 and 1:28.2, Brave World had to be 'brave' for the final quarter. It didn't happen.

Pet Sur-Roc ($6.40) needed a little urging down the lane but had no issue in wrangling the lead away from Brave World approaching the finish line. All About Lynx (Christian Myers) took the show position.

Owned and trained by Chris Carrubba Jr., it was the third straight victory for Pet Sur-Roc (Pet Rock-Easter Surprize). The 6-year-old gelding has now earned $25,714 in nine attempts this season.

Drew Monti finished the opening night card with three victories while James McNeight Jr., Kyle Cummings and Fisher Jr. all produced doubles. David Russo had a training double on the card.

Racing will return on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. with a 13-race program scheduled.
