Accident Mars Sire Stake Event at Buffalo

Hamburg, NY---In the third race here at Buffalo Raceway (Friday, July 12), a New York Sire Stake race worth $57,443, an accident involving four horses and drivers, sent drivers Jack Flanigen, and Ray Fisher, Jr., to the hospital after a bad spill at the top of the stretch.

My American Tallia had the lead with driver Andrew McCarthy in the bike. The horse broke stride, and the two-year-old filly swerved sideways in to Sweetnsinful and reinsman Jimmy Whittemore. My American Tallia then fell to the ground causing a chain reaction involving Flanigen and Fisher.

Driver Jack Flanigen checked out okay, and was sent home from the hospital. He is nothing but sore from hitting the track.  Ray Fisher, was sent home Friday morning. He has a broken back (2 vertebrae) and a fractured pelvis, but will not require surgery. He expects to be out of action for about 5 weeks .

The race was won by Suplemental Income ($2.50), driven by Jim Morrill, Jr. for owners Jennifer and Janice Connor. It was the second lifetime win for Suplemental Income who stopped the clock in 1:58.4.
