NYSS Filly Trotters Debut at Buffalo

Wednesday July 7, the New York Sire Stakes two year old filly trotters make their seasonal debut at Buffalo Raceway in Hamburg, NY. 38 have entered in five divisions of seven or eight horses going for $26,942 and $27,442 respectively. Of the fillies entered 12 were sired by Conway Hall, 8 - Credit Winner, 7 – Cash Hall, 4 – Dream Vacation.

In the first division, second race, there are 3 Credit Winner, 3 Cash Hall, and 2 Conway Hall daughters. Cashaholic from the John Stark stable will battle against All That Dazzle trained by John Cross, and Gary Gregory’s Aviatrix.

Ray Schnittker’s Carme Blue Chip who was purchased at the Harrisburg Sale for $100,000 last fall drew the rail in race four. Imageofasweetday who sold for $45,000 at the same sale drew the five hole. Starting just inside of Imageofasweetday is Buffalo based horse Limerick Lady trained by David McNeight.

The fifth race, start of the Pick 3, features Birthday Bonus a Cash Hall filly from Paul Bernardo’s barn who sold for $52,000 at Harrisburg. Conwayslassie, Pretty As My Mom and Some Girls should also look to play a factor in the race.

Jezzy trained by Ray Schnittker was installed as the heavy favorite by Director of Racing Robin Burns, in the seventh race. She will face a slew of Morrisville Sale graduates as four of the six other fillies, Southwind Ricola ($21,000), Em El Cash ($18,000), Leah’s Ex (10,000) and Dream Ticket ($22,000) were purchased at the annual fall event.

The final division, race eight, includes another Schnittker trained filly Epona Blue Chip who will start from the far outside. Dan Daley’s Appomattox Lady will start on the inside. In the middle are Claude Huckabone’s Steuben Loretta and Trond Smedshammer’s Tamper Of Will.

As with any two year old racing it should be an interesting night of racing especially when it is the first event of the season.
