Scotts Rolls Royce Gets a Perfect Pocket Trip in Open Pace

Hamburg, NY---In the $$9,000 Open Handicap Pace, Scotts Rolls Royce, an eight-year-old Western Ideal gelding out of the Cam Fella mare Hollin Hanover received a perfect pocket trip, then exploded in the passing lane, to win in 1:55.4 for owners Amanda Tobinski, and Greg Luther here at Buffalo Raceway Saturday night (June 26).

It was the third win of the year for Scotts Rolls Royce, who was masterfully driven by reinsman Troy Boring. Leaving from post two in the field of eight, Scotts Rolls Royce settled in second as Cry For Cash (Ron Beback, Jr.) cut all the fractions, :28.1, :57.2, and 1:26.4. A :29 last quarter-mile put the winner a head in front of fast closing Arm And A Leg (Kevin Cummings) at the finish line. Compass Connection (Ray Fisher, Jr.) was a neck behind in third.

“He raced just great,” said Boring. “After last weeks win, he seems to be back to his old self”.

Trained by John Mungillo, it was a jump up in class for Scotts Rolls Royce, whose season’s bankroll now stands at $27,382, and $193,312 lifetime.

Racing will resume on Sunday June 27, with first post scheduled for 1:05 pm.
