Hometown favorite Tuesdays With Mom Wins in Sire Stakes Action

Hamburg, NY---Tuesdays With Mom, a three-year-old Credit Winner offspring, out of the New York Sire Stakes champion mare Princess Deanna, trotted the fastest mile of the night, 1:59.4. It was the second Sire Stakes win of the year, and a season’s best, for Tuesdays With Mom, who is owned and trained by Peter Arrigenna of Piffard, NY.

When the entries came out on Wednesday, there was Tuesdays With Mom in the same division as last year’s two-year-old champion, Munis Blue Chip. The battle did not disappoint.

Leaving from post two in the field of seven, Tuesdays With Mom ($4.10) the slight favorite over Munis Blue Chip (post 6), and with new driver Jack Flanigen in the sulky, settled in second as Secret Credit (Brian Mattison) hit the half in a quick :59, and three-quarters in 1:30.2. It was a fierce stretch battle as Munis Blue Chip joined the leaders. A :29.1 last quarter-mile by the winner, put her a head in front of Secret Credit at the wire. A breaking Munis Blue Chip, came in third.

“Pete said if you can get a two-hole trip, that would be good”, said Flanigen. “She really dug in coming for home, and I had to be careful around the last turn”. When asked about driving her for the first time, Flanigen responded, “I love her, and very happy to get the opportunity”.

The $13,084 share of the winning purse put Tuesdays With Mom’s season bankroll at $26,714 and $213,754 lifetime.

The other New York Sire Stakes winners were, Flirtinwithcowboys ($11.00) with John Stark, Jr., Show Your Lindys ($2.90) and driver Anita Valstad, Upside Blue Chip ($3.00) and reinsman Phil Fluet, Radiant One ($5.90) and hometown driver Kevin Cummings, and Little Spot ($6.90) with Pat Berry at the controls.

Racing will resume on Sunday June 20, with the premier division of the New York Sire Stakes on tap, the three-year-old pacing colts and geldings, vying for $39,638 in four divisions. Post time is 1:05 PM.
