NY Sire Stakes 3 Year Old Colt Pacer Preview
The New York Sire Stakes, the states premier harness racing program, are at Buffalo three days this week. The 3 year old trotting colts get things started Wednesday. On Saturday it is ladies night as the 3 year old filly trotters take to oval and Sunday afternoon the 3 year old colt pacers close things out on Fathers Day.
Wednesday features six division worth over $25,000 each. Of the 45 colts and geldings 13 sons of Conway Hall have entered, 11 - Credit Winner, 8 - Malabar Man and 7 - Dream Vacation.
In the first division, race 2, Margarita Man with trainer driver Ray Schnittker is the morning line favorite. He will be challenged by the Rob Harmon trained Kona and Classical Winner trained by Bjorn Noren.
Race 4 features five Conway Hall colts headlined by Kathleen LaMontagne’s Carnegie who took his division at Yonkers last week. Local horse Proper Villain trained by Allan McCarty, Came To Play, Indefensible, and Big Stick Lindy are also sons of Conway Hall.
Shaq is Back from the Schnittker stable will battle it out with Azad Boko who did not race as a two year old and Waldorf Hall in the fifth race.
Credit Winner colts will be featured in the 4th division, race 7, as 4 of the 8 entries are from the stallion standing at Blue Chip Farms. Trainer Jimmy Takter’s Stimulus was installed as the 8-5 favorite by Director of Racing Robin Burns. Carbon Footprint, Syenite, and Whata Winner are the other Credit Winner colts.
Last season’s two year old champion Blacktuxwhitesocks headlines the eight race and will be starting from the second post position outside of locally owned Incentive Hall. Jeff Gregory has the reins to guide the Jessica Okusko trained trotter to his second win of the year.
In the final division, race 10, A Megabuck trained by Melissa Beckwith looks for his fifth straight trip to the winner’s circle, including last weeks NYSS at Yonkers.
Many of the trainers will be back for the weekend as Saturday features the three year old filly trotter and Sunday the three old colt pacers.
