Rules and Standards
The Race Office and Management of Buffalo Raceway would like to thank you for your cooperation in making this meet a success and wish you good luck the rest of the year. We look forward to seeing all of you back in January of 2011!!
Please check the website and the race office for possible "extra" races, on Sunday racing will start on 6/6/2010.
Horses that are entered in “Open” events may be moved at the discretion of the Race Secretary in order to fill!!!
Classes may be combined in order to fill.
Starting with the draw for Wednesday, February, 3rd, 2010 the thirty (30) day rule is in effect. Qualifying times are now 2:04 pace and 2:07 trot (3 year olds allowed 1 second, 2 year olds 2 seconds) commencing on Friday March 26th’s race program and qualifiers.
If a horse is scratched from a race at Buffalo Raceway sick, lame or injured, that horse is excluded from reentering a race for seven (7) days starting the day after the scheduled race day for which the horse was scratched. “Judges” scratches will be dealt with on a discretionary basis.
All entries not in the box by 9:00 a.m. will be considered late. The race office has the right to place horses in the correct class. No telephone entries accepted from horsemen that are stabled on the grounds and no voice mail/email/ fax entries are accepted. Any entry may be disallowed at the discretion of the race secretary and horses that do not fit a lower condition will have preference.
All entries must be declared with any possible owner/trainer conflict noted or the horse(s) may be scratched. The race office must receive the corrected information on horses coming in from another track including correct spelling of the horse’s name and last race date. The race office, while every effort is made to avoid mistakes, assumes NO liability for incorrect or missing information derived from the USTA electronic eligibilities.
Beginning with the draw for Wednesday, February 3rd 2010, horses coming in from another track, that are entered in “open and condition’ and races based on ‘last 5 starts’, not ‘extended PM races’, are subject to re-classification at the discretion of the race secretary.
New claiming authorizations for 2010 and current negative Coggins test are needed. Both of these may be faxed to the race office at 716-648-1510 or 716-649-0033. Horses will not be allowed to enter, even if ‘the blood has been drawn’.
Badges will be available in the race office from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on race nights only. All horsemen must get a new badge with expiration date. A valid NYSRWB license or receipt must be shown for the badge to be processed.
Race office hours are as follows: 8:00 a.m. until the completion of the draw (Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday) and 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on race nights.
Purse checks may be picked up in the racing office on ‘draw day’ mornings and race nights.
Training hours will be from 6:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on non race days and 6:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on race days when the track will reopen at 3:00 p.m. for horses racing that night. Towing hours daily will be from 6:30 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. and noon until the track closes. The track will be closed on Sunday.
